NASA

NASA's own iOS app, version 3.12 from 2013, exactly as NASA shipped it, with one change: it talks to a small server of mine instead of NASA's retired mobile backend. The server answers the app's old API with today's data (missions and pictures from NASA's live service, news and features from nasa.gov, videos from NASA's YouTube channels, the NASA TV live stream and Third Rock Radio) over plain http, so a 2012 device can read it. Nothing else in the app was touched.

• Missions with banners, descriptions, launch dates and countdowns; the ISS on the tracking map
• Images: Astronomy Picture of the Day and NASA Image of the Day with full descriptions, favourites and bookmarks
• Videos from NASA, Goddard, JPL, Johnson, Kennedy, Ames, Glenn, NASA Science and Chandra, played in the system player
• News and features from nasa.gov by topic, readable inside the app
• NASA TV live and Third Rock Radio, both streamed through the proxy
• NASA centers on the map, solar system pages, mission detail pages

• Tweets are empty: Twitter no longer offers a free API. ISS sighting predictions and the Launch Services Program feeds are gone too
• Everything goes through nasa.samcejko.eu; when that server is down the app shows its cached data
• NASA's app, not mine; English only. Not affiliated with NASA

• 3.12-1: the 2013 app pointed at the replacement server
